When the cat's away...it sucks

Daddy was out of town last week and boy was it interesting.  He was gone Monday through Saturday for business...way too long. We FaceTimed every morning and night but I didn't get it.  When we said goodnight I always thought he would walk in the back door so I went and waited for him...but alas he never came.

While I wasn't feeling well, I gnawed on my crib and may or may not have ingested an inch long splinter of wood that went missing.  After I refused to eat or drink and wouldn't stop screaming, we headed to the good old Children's Mercy South ER. Turns out I may have just needed a change of scenery because as soon as I got there I ate, I drank, I played with my hospital bracelet, I ran around with my shirt off.  The only part I was not thrilled about was the x-ray...you could hear my screams from a mile away.  The verdict: I was probably fussy from being sick and not from ingesting a huge splinter of wood. Whew!  Here I am awaiting my discharge from the ER...yes guilty as charged.

When I was feeling better, I tried to help Mommy as much as I could.  While Daddy was gone, I learned how to put clothes in the hamper, unload the dishwasher and feed the dog.  Add that to my love of dusting and vacuuming and I am turning myself into a regular Golden Boy...well as long as you ignore the fact that I love leaving a trail of destruction wherever I go.  This week I also destroyed a couple of ornaments and unwrapped all the presents under the tree so I guess we're par for the course.

I also did a bang-up job of playing Jekyll and Hyde with the dog. Poor Leland can never tell which side of me he's going to get...the kid that whacks him on the head with toys, chases him like a lunatic and bites him on the tail, or the one that wants to curl up on him and take a nap.  It's a crap shoot really.

To top off the craziness of the week, (grand)Pa fell and broke both wrists and got double casts put on Friday.  He is doing much better now and we are all saying lots of prayers his wrists heal without surgery.  Needless to say we were very happy to have this guy back home come Saturday.  Don't leave us again for that long, ok Daddy? We're a mess without you...literally...you should have seen the house before you got home.

Reunited And It Feels So Good

I started my Thanksgiving week with a playdate with my buddy Brandon at Little Monkey Business.  We had a great time! I tried to go up all the slides, tried on other people's shoes and got in everyone's way but people were pretty tolerant of me.

Mommy got a jump start on the Christmas decorating. I love ripping all the ornaments off the tree.  I love hiding the Wise Men from my Fisher Price manger way high up in the tree.  I also love playing every Christmas music ornament and decoration simultaneously for 30 minute periods.

A couple nights later I got to see my girlfriend Asha.  I loved her pigtails! She wasn't too impressed by me but we both share a love for Sound of Music so maybe one day she will warm to me.

Then my Auntie Kelly, Uncle Andy and cousins Grayson, Cooper and Claire made the trek up from Dallas to spend Thanksgiving with us.  I was a little hesitant to share my Mommy, Mimi and Pa at first but eventually I learned I couldn't shove my cousins off their laps all the time...apparently that's considered rude.  Instead I managed to worm my way into all of their hugs.

Thanksgiving was delicious and exhausting.  I think four toddlers running around the table was a bit chaotic for the adults...everyone looked a little shell-shocked after meal time.  Then it was time to get into our fat-pants and enjoy the rest of the night.

As is typically the case when we four get together, we got matchy-matchy for some pictures.   I had to be held down in just about every one of them. Mommy was a bit irritated.  You can't tell but Mimi is hiding behind the swing keeping me from jumping.  Maybe next year the pictures will be easier?!

I'm pretty into ketchup these days...I take after my mommy.  No one wanted to sit next to me at meal time because I kept trying to steal their "dip".

I was sad to see Auntie Kelly and Uncle Andy and the triplets go but I know it will just be a few short months til we get to play again.  Here is a parting shot of us.   Love you! Thanks for a fun Thanksgiving!
