Six and a Half Months

Life continues to be busy for me in 2013. I started baby food. As you can see by Mommy's feeding abilities and my swallowing abilities, it was a learning experience.  Here's the run down of my likes so far: apples, sweet potatoes, carrots, green beans and pears.  The foods that make me gag/cry: plain oatmeal or rice cereal, squash and bananas.

Mommy and I celebrated Daddy's birthday with him on the 7th.  He turned the big 3-4.  I made a little sign for him. Here it is. I know, my handwriting looks suspiciously like Mommy's.  It's purely coincidental.

Daddy and I watched our first K-State bowl game together.  We are both hoping that next time the game goes better.

Mommy's family came in town for Great Grandpa Landis' funeral and we had a Memorial dinner for him at Loch Lloyd.  It was my first dining experience out and I was such a gentleman!  Well I did pretty well for a baby who is wide awake for a three-course meal that he cannot partake in....

I am not crawling yet but I am loving tummy time and rolling over. And computing...I love computing. I am definitely my dad's son.

Many of you ask, "Is he sleeping through the night yet?" In response, I will just say that coffee has become Mommy's best friend.  I did really well for a week...one night I slept 8:30pm-5:30am.  It was legendary.  And it has not happened since.  We have a ways to go.  I am still waiting for Mommy to man up but, until then, I will continue to enjoy my "mommy time" 2-3 times a night.

Speaking of legendary...Leland had another epic week last week that culminated in the breaking of the gate as well as the office window.  He has been in doggy jail a lot.  At least I know I will always have a co-conspirator in my naughty ventures once I am on the move.

Six Months!

I have been so busy doing baby stuff that I haven't had time to post.  Life has been hectic.  In a nutshell: I got a makeshift playroom, had my first Christmas, partied for the New Year, am rolling over like a fiend, met my Auntie Darcy, Uncle Scott and cousin Evan, learned to scoot, am almost sitting up, got TWO teeth and turned six months.  I know, I told you I was busy! Here is a peek at what I have been up to...sorry for the length but there is so much to cover in a month!

This is me in my new playroom...formerly known as the breakfast area.  As you can see by the missing kitchen table, Mommy lost the war on which table to get rid of.  Don't worry the pool table remains untouched...for now.

I was so excited to meet my family from Baltimore. We had the best time and I can't wait until they move to Kansas City! ;0) This is me meeting my cousin Evan for the first time.  Cousins don't shake hands, cousins gotta hug...

Grandpa volunteered to "watch" me while everyone was busy in the kitchen making lunch.  I know I am just a baby and don't know much, but I am pretty sure you can't watch someone with your eyes closed.

I was able to get some good snuggle time in with Auntie Darcy and Uncle Scott.

Evan and I were Christmas twinsies!  Here we are waiting to open presents in our matching Santa pajamas courtesy of Grandma.

Apparently we waited too long because I ended up sleeping through the entire present opening extravaganza.  Don't worry though, Mommy and Daddy were sure to take my picture with some of the gifts they opened on my behalf.  Uncle Scott and Auntie Darcy got some great pictures of us all having a fun time at Uncle Raleigh's and Jessica's house but I will have to post them later.

I was one tired bear after all the celebrating.  I am a lucky boy because I got to also have Christmas with Mimi and Pa.  It was a little bittersweet because Great Grandpa Landis passed away Christmas Eve but we had a nice Christmas with Mommy's side of the family knowing that a special angel was looking down on us.  Mommy called me baby therapy...I hear it's a lot like using therapy dogs for snuggles but with less fur.

Mommy and Daddy got to spend some time with Daddy's high school friends from near and far.  Justin and Laura came all the way from San Francisco just to see me! Ok maybe not JUST to see me but I was super excited to see them.  Here I am being twinsies with Laura...she is my snuggle buddy.

Daddy took off two weeks to be home with Mommy, Leland and me for the holidays.  We had so much fun.  Daddy woke me up every morning and let Mommy sleep in.  We took walks almost everyday and spent lots of family time.  Mommy even got to take a nap a couple of days...it was our Christmas gift to her.  Mommy looked remarkably well-rested.  Here I am testing out my bear suit that I got for Christmas. It. Is. Awesome.

Adding to my bag of tricks, I can now scoot on my belly.  Give me a smooth surface and a good toy to go after and I'm gone...ok maybe not gone, but I can definitely move a few inches.  Mommy says to turn the sound off when you watch this...her voice might be a bit on the shrill side....

And I am now 6 months old. A whopping 17 pounds, 9.4 ounces (52nd percentile) and 27.5 inches long (85th percentile).  My bottom two teeth broke through (one on Christmas, one on New Years), my dark hair is coming in, I am pivoting and rolling over and am almost sitting and standing with support.  Next up for me is sleep bootcamp and real food, none of that rice cereal junk.  Stay tuned...
