Breckenridge

This past week we took a trip to Breckenridge, Colorado, to spend a long weekend with Daddy's high school friends.  Did we live it up! Luckily we got groceries the night before because we woke up to inches of snow and no plow in sight.  I was thrilled about it!

Until I got all my snow gear on and headed outside.  Then I became less than thrilled. Good thing Mommy got my snow pants, coat and boots on sale or she might be a little mad that I would only wear them for .2 seconds.

I had lots of fun spending time with Mommy and Daddy's friends.

I did some reading with Auntie Laura.

I snuggled with Uncle Justin.

I even did broom races with all my new friends: Horace, Jane and Asha.  We had so much fun.  I also got to play with all my honorary uncles-Brady, Hugh, Justin and Nick. They were hilarious.  Mommy was a little nervous to leave me with the guys on Football Sunday to go have some girl time with my honorary aunties-Alicia, Julie and Laura--but when they came home we were all in one piece.  There were brooms and toys everywhere and games on every TV but it was par for the course.

Here is a shot of all of us.  We had so much fun eating, playing games and hanging out. Thanks Auntie Laura and Uncle Justin for making this trip happen. Can't wait to see you in November!

Oh, you might be wondering how this little traveler did on the 12-hour car ride.  I! Was! Awesome! I was good on the ride out but the ride back, I was a celebrity. I was so glad to have my Uncle Nick in the car for the ride home, I put on my best behavior. We even got to have milkshakes in Junction City. Best trip ever!

Nobody Knows the Troubles I've Seen

When I last left you, it was almost Mimi's surgery day. Things did not go as planned. Mimi had a bad infection that made the surgery too dangerous.  So we spent another week visiting her in the hospital before Dr. Moore discharged her to go home and recoup again until January. I got really good at riding in Pa's lap on the wheel chair. I got even better with my cane dance. Here we are on the long trek to Mimi's room.  Daddy is worried I might be getting too into the idea of shepherding.

Here's one last shot of me hanging out in the hospital. This goofy grin had all the lady nurses bringing me Jell-O cups and smiles.

I have been protesting naps more and more. Here is a shot of me hanging out in my crib and twiddling my thumbs to avoid napping.  Strangers say I bear a remarkable resemblance to the Etrade baby, and after seeing this commercial, they *might* be right.

I shall leave you with a picture of me modeling my freshly shorn hair.  This haircut wasn't quite as easy as those other two but Marianne is one patient lady and got the job done right.  I am now officially ready for my trip to Breckenridge!

A Ruff Week

This has been a crazy week. First off, I had my 15-month check up. I am losing my edge in the height department...I dropped to the 85th percentile at 32 1/8 inches.  Despite going on dinner protests as of late, I am holding steady at 22 pounds 9.6 ounces and the 49th percentile for weight.  I was less than pleased to get 4 shots at my check-up but by the time I got my Scooby-Doo band-aids, I was smiling again.  Here I am sans pants waiting to get my shots.

I have started playing in my crib at strange hours of the night.  I randomly wake up, run around the mattress, then try to rip my projector off of the side of my crib.  Sometimes this makes me laugh, which Mommy and Daddy find a bit creepy to hear in the middle of the night.

In other news, it has been a ROUGH week for my Mimi.  She was supposed to have surgery last Wednesday and after a scary night in the ER and several days in the hospital we are all exhausted. I have gone to the hospital every afternoon to see her but can't get too close because of her PICC line. Lucky for me, the nurses are awesome and shower me with attention.  They even smuggle me a snack if I am REALLY good.  Thanks Chuck, Ashley, Katie, Toni, Kristina, Bettye, Katie, Melody, Comfort, and the rest of the East 4 crew for taking awesome care of my Mimi and not shooting my Mommy who is constantly asking for questions. I am ready to have Mimi home.  Please say a prayer that her surgery goes well tomorrow and she is home by the end of the week.

Special shout out to my Auntie Becca for putting life on hold and watching me at the drop of a hat so Mommy can go to the hospital every morning.  We've been having so much fun that sometimes I even cry when she leaves...it makes Mommy feel awesome.

And another special shout out to Gammy Sheryl for coming in from Tucson to help with things while Mimi is sick.  We had a special date to see Great Grandma Corky in Raymore.  Gammy Sheryl even helped me choreograph a dance with Pa's cane.  I may be the next Fred Astaire. Daddy is thrilled!

I shall leave you with a picture of Lele and me patrolling the sniper post upstairs.  This weekend was Garage Sale weekend in the neighborhood, AKA Leland's own personal hell.  Cars driving up and down the cul-de-sac for three days straight.  No amount of Doggy Xanax helped.   Please note the missing paint on the window trim...you will find said paint on the bottom of Leland's nails. It's a good thing we love this dog!
